Michael J. Macco, Branch Manager
I began my career in financial services in 1998 at the recommendation of my high school guidance counselor. While I expressed interest in becoming an auto mechanic (I still like to work on my cars), she suggested I pursue the State of Wisconsin Financial Youth Apprenticeship program. It was good advice. I went on to spend seven years in retail and commercial banking specializing in corporate & municipal cash management. And in 2008, I joined my father, John, at Macco Financial Group, as a financial advisor.
As is often the case, I was not as attuned to my gifts as others. Thank heavens for my guidance counselor! What I have come to understand, however, is how much joy and fulfillment comes with advising others on their financial affairs. You see, it’s not all about money. Money is a proxy for time. And time is how we measure our lives. So, in a very real way, I help people plan for their lives! This puts me smack dab in the middle of some of the most profound, personal and important parts of my clients’ lives. This is an honor that I take very seriously and work tirelessly to earn. As we have come to say in our office, “Everyone deserves to be someone’s best client.”
I have been humbly married to the kindest most gracious woman in the world, Beth, since 2004. Together, we have three children, Hazel, Ethan and Jasper. When I am not in the office, I enjoy CrossFit, singing at my church, tinkering on my cars and slowly restoring our historic 1905 American Foursquare home.

Patrick Stoa, Financial Advisor
My interest in personal financial planning and investments started early. Fresh out of college, I had been hired by a big, brown, shipping company as a salesperson for the Green Bay area. With a full-time paycheck, but still a part-time lifestyle, I felt truly rich. Over a few months I paid off the bit of debt I had acquired through college, bought a few dishes and apartment furnishings, and then wondered what to do with the rest of my paycheck. Through the marvels of Late Night Infomercials, I found a local investment seminar. Entirely presented using an overhead projector, I heard useful information on the benefits of starting early, compound interest, the existence of mutual funds, and minimizing taxes. The seed had been planted. I looked for and read every book I could on personal finance. Back then, I had to send self-addressed stamped envelopes to request information and forms. I did, and my automatic investment plan started that first year out of college. Personal finance had become my hobby.
I married my wife, Stephanie in 1995 (after dating for far too long, as she will tell you). We starting growing a family, I changed careers from shipping to printing sales, and we became clients at Macco Financial Group. Probably not very good clients, since I thought I knew a lot and questioned everything. Still, it was a good fit with a growing family, and I appreciated the advice. Through a combination of my early start with investing, my family’s frugal lifestyle (thanks Steph!), success in my printing sales career, and advice received from my own advisors, I am happy to say that I achieved my own financial independence in my mid 40’s.
It would have been both lucrative and easy to coast in my printing sales career…and boring. I urgently wanted to grow personally, to step into a role where I could directly help people in a meaningful and impactful way. The choice to re-launch as a financial advisor was obvious and immediate, and has been more rewarding than I ever imagined. I am honored every time a client invites me to help them live the life they deserve and guide them through the detours on the way. I especially value your story, your hopes, dreams, fears, and concerns. These become the foundational building blocks of our relationship and your financial plan. I am looking forward to that moment when I can sense that you know your plan can work, and you clearly see what needs to happen to make it work.
Stephanie and I met while at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where I earned a Bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. Steph and I have six children, ranging from grade school age to college age. Our house was always loud, and crowded, and still seems to be even when the two oldest are away. When we are not shuttling the kids to practices and events, Steph and I enjoy hiking, reading and mountain biking. Someday, I would like to hike the Appalachian Trail, while Steph says the Alps would be better.

I enjoy working with individuals and families to help them create and sustain financial wellness through all stages of life. I graduated with a music degree and spent many of my early career years travelling as a professional entertainer. It satisfied my wanderlust and curiosity for how people live in other parts of the country and world. And although I don’t have a degree in finance, the Raymond James support and education system have enhanced my natural organizational and client service skills, the end result being able to offer a full array of client service and feeling competent in that.
When I’m not in the office, my husband, Steve, and I are having fellowship time with family (HUGE FAMILY) and friends or getting involved in local music venues (Steve is also a musician). We’re Harley people so, besides riding just to feel the wind through our hair (just kidding – we do wear our helmets), we try to make at least one big trip across the country on our HD Ultra-Classic. Being parents of a wonderful adult daughter also keeps us busy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. All in all, it’s a good life in northeastern Wisconsin.”
Terri has been a Client Services Specialist for almost 20 years. She’s the first person someone is likely to speak with when calling the office and will handle many of the requests she receives. Along with her client services role, Terri manages non-financial daily office business. She’s also a good listener and will always take time to catch up with our MFG clients.

John became a financial advisor in 1997 and founded Macco Financial Group in April of 2004. In November of 2014, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly were he represents the 88th district. John has been married to his wife, Sue, since 1978 years. They have two children and six grandchildren.

WHAT IS A FIDUCIARY?
A fiduciary is someone who must give advice that is in the best interest of the client without regard to any compensation that person might receive. Our philosophy of service always has been and always will be about putting the client first. Whether or not your advisor is a fiduciary in many cases depends on the kinds of product they are selling. For instance, a fee-based account is often associated with the advisor being a fiduciary. Whereas a commission-based account often is not.
